New Web Press Installation

Due to increased publication business arriving from new and existing customers, Crescent has added another heat set web offset printing press. The new press specifications are closely matched to our existing heat set web. As such, our web crews are already trained to operate the equipment and can easily move from one press to another for maximum workflow when required.

One significant difference with the new press is that it is a double web configuration, which complements our existing single web. Our existing web has a maximum capability of producing 16-page (4-color) signatures at each pass, where as the addition of the double web allows us to produce 32-page (2-color) printed signatures and 16-page (4-color) printed signatures at each pass, with the same heat set web press quality. This expanded capability provides us with the ability to market new products.

Purchased from Sydney, Australia and shipped to the U.S. during the first quarter of 2008, the installation process had been steady since then, with building and external modifications made to accommodate the new press. The installation was a success and a start-up date of August 2008 has been accomplished.
